Waldorf Astoria has combined its trademark timeless elegance with the whimsy and nostalgia of the world’s largest and most celebrated toy store to present a playful Hamleys-themed Afternoon Tea, a one-of-a-kind room package with kid-focused amenities, and a Kid’s Edutainment Club full of interactive activities.

As part of the partnership, the exuberant, kid-friendly Afternoon Tea and room package will make vibrant additions to all three Waldorf Astoria hotels in ShanghaiBeijing and Chengdu from late June this summer, with the bonus offering of an interactive learning center called the Kid’s Edutainment Club launching on June 23 at Waldorf Astoria Beijing.

Connect over Hamleys-themed Afternoon Tea

During their stay at any Waldorf Astoria hotel in China this summer, families can experience a uniquely crafted Hamleys-themed afternoon tea. Adding a playful touch to the courtly tradition, guests are invited to indulge in sweet treats served in a lively atmosphere. A life-sized Hamleys bear for kids to play with and cuddle is ideal for photo taking, keepsake forlasting memories. Kids and parents will feel like they’ve stepped into an enchanted land of joy as they relax, play and nibble on specialty cakes and snacks, including a scrumptious dessert shaped like a Hamleys teddy bear and Waldorf Astoria brand’s most iconic treat, decadent red velvet cake.

A Special Room Package Designed for the Little Ones

Paired with Waldorf Astoria brand’s commitment to crafting an authentic experience for each and every guest, this kid-friendly room package makes inspired use of the playfulness that has characterized the Hamleys brand since its creation in 1760. The rooms have been specially designed with kids in mind including add-ons such as colorful tents for imaginary camping trips, exuding a charm that’s akin to living inside a playground. After spending an afternoon of splashing around in a bubble bath, kids can wear their own special bathing amenities, including slippers and a pint-sized bathrobe. Each participating child will also receive exceptional welcome gifts, such as a brightly colored backpack overflowing with goodies including rainbow pens, water bottle and a cuddly teddy bear.

Creative Learning at the Kid’s Edutainment Club

At Waldorf Astoria Beijing, the Kid’s Edutainment Club offers a bonanza of fun and games that keep kids stimulated while putting education at the forefront. The Club, which is open to both in-house guests and the public, features unique spaces for interactive learning such as an Art and Craft Zone, an Interactive Technology and Reading Zone, a Building Blocks and Logical Thinking Zone, and a Recreation Zone.

The 2018 summer program at the Club introduces plenty of quirky and creative skill-building workshops, including cookie-making, painting, storytelling, Lego-building and colourful sand bottle art making. Under the guidance of friendly and dedicated staff from Waldorf Astoria Beijing, kids will feel motivated and have a blast while they build upon creativity and cognitive skills.

The Kid’s Edutainment Club is open to kids ages three to ten accompanied by adults, and operates from 9am to 6pm on weekends from June 23 to July 6 and daily from July 7 to September 2.
