Fun, games and relaxation for all generations: at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz children and their parents now have their own world. In their Family Spa and the colourful Children’s Villa, where they can play and run around over two floors. This is part of the Eastern Swiss luxury resort’s expansion plan for its three generation strategy, as Marco R. Zanolari, General Manager of the Grand Hotels, says: «Children and their parents need space to let their hair down and to feel good.» At the same time guests over 16 years old can relax in peace in the hotel’s own Helenabath, the 36.5 degree thermal water pool.
That had been a contradiction in terms at times, until now – but those days are gone. A real world of experience has been created for children across 550 square metres in Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz. The different water zones range from 0.2 to 1.3 metres deep and are filled with soothing 33 degree warm water. The creative mind behind the expansion is interior designer Claudio Carbone, who lives in Appenzell, Switzerland, but is known far beyond his native country. He has already headed up various projects in Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, such as the Spa Suites Tower which opened in 2009.
And now the jaunty kids’ world: Carbone recreated the Tamina Gorge in rustic rockfaces. A wooden Alpine hut is a reminder of the story of Heidi and all manner of water games like the mini slide invite the little ones to splash around in the warm water without delay. There are also exciting things on offer in the pools for water babies: Mermaid swimming and Aqua Latin Dance, learning about the fascinating underwater world and a kids’ party on Saturday evenings. And: there are professional swimming lessons for all the little ones who are not yet confident in the water.
But it’s not just about the kids running and splashing around to their hearts’ content. Spa Manager Lucia Bergmann’s Wellness Menu also offers the young ladies and gentlemen some special child friendly treatments. There is the «Funny Choco» massage and the «Sweet Honey» massage for youngsters. And for all the little ones who want to keep up with their mummies in all things manicure and pedicure there are also some cool treatments: «Bling Bling Fingers» and «Happy Feet». Nail care is part of the programme as well as trendy nail polish and sparkling jewels.
There has also been a quite a bit done for families «on dry land»: on every floor of Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz***** there is a new Family Room with over 75 square metres for up to three children and their parents.
Regular guests may remember the Villa Solitude, which has been used for several years as a playground for children. Now this villa is also benefitting from a new concept and it will be renovated to offer young guests from 3 to 16 years old a true kids’ paradise over two floors. A mini kitchen for cookery and baking lessons, a large craft and play room with rubber lego, cosy reading corner and mini shop are just some of the highlights awaiting children. And for teenagers there is also a lot on offer with an interactive games room, table tennis, table football and hockey as well as a climbing wall and a party room. Plus a chill out zone for those who just want to «hang out».
At lunchtime children can eat together in the new Children’s Villa – if they don’t go to one of the restaurants with Mum, Dad or the grandparents. Kids are of course always welcome in any of the restaurants and have their own menu to choose from. However, even with all these new things on offer, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is not becoming a kids’ hotel. It remains a resort where families can be happy. Each generation – on their own or all together.
The new Family Room from CHF 850.00 per room per night (inclusive of breakfast and many wellbeing and experience costs) available to book immediately on +41 (0)81 303 30 30 or reservation@resortragaz.ch
